1. There’s so much data, but too little insight. True. Businesses need more than data. They need actionable information.
2. Market Consolidation Means Fewer Choices for Business Intelligence Users. All the large ERP software providers are starting to add BI to their software portfolio.
3. Business Intelligence Expands from the Board Room to the Front Lines. BI software is maturing and computers and hard disks are cheap where BI software is now affordable outside of the Board Room.
4. The Convergence of Structured and Unstructured Data Will Create Better Business Intelligence. This is particularly useful for call centers and support desks where e-mail and unstructured data from customers are available.
5. Applications Will Provide New Views of Business Intelligence Data. BI software is getting more graphic with dashboards, interactive screens, map overlays, and so on.
