Blockbuster Reaches 2 Million Online Users

Digg.com posts, “Movie rental company Blockbuster Inc. said that it reached a year-end goal of 2 million online subscribers. Blockbuster Chairman and Chief Executive John Antioco credited Blockbuster Total Access, a plan that gives online customers the option of returning DVDs through the mail or exchanging them at stores for free rentals.”

My vote is for Netflix. I tried Blockbuster for a couple of months. Here is why I favor Netflix:

- I pick better movies at Netflix. Their recommendation system is great as well as the previews and detail specs on the movies. With Blockbuster, I consistently picked bad movies. This puts me on the bad side with my wife.

Blockbuster is doing well on cross-promotion coupons and tying their service with their local store, but this does not make up for an inferior web site. I assume Blockbuster online will get better, but for now I’m sticking with Netflix.
