Tax Refund Phishing Scam

AllPayNews’ posting: The IRS gets Phished is alerting people that there is a phishing scam going around where people are getting e-mails from thieves posing as IRS agents. The e-mails are communications about your tax refund, but the real purpose is to obtain personal information from you.

Phishing scams are where people are attempting to get your personal information for the purposes of identity theft. Once they get your personal information, the phishing scammer will normally sell you information to identity thieves. These thieves will open up credit card accounts or other types of loans to obtain money using your personal information.
