Police: How to keep debit and credit cards safe

Credit cards and debit cards are safe, but you need to be smarter than the technology. Simple things can keep you safe from scammers and thieves. Things like:
- putting your hand over the keypad when you enter your debit card pin
- try to check your account online daily for unusual activity
- do not lend your card to family members to use
- always initiate the card transaction. Do not give out your card information as a result of someone calling you, or e-mailing you, or a pop-up that just showed up on your computer screen.
