Surveys show that online retailers are gearing up early for a busy holiday season with a predicted 18 percent increase in sales. Most online stores will be offering free shipping. Many will start promotions early in November to get ahead on traditional retailers. Surveys predict 116 million people will shop online this year, a 6 percent increase over last year.
