Ether.com is an interesting payment concept where basically you get paid when someone calls you. I’m not sure this type of payment solution will catch on. It is a bit tainted as it is similar to the 900 number schemes used by the horoscope and sex talk businesses.
The way Ether.com is setup now is that they equip you with a phone number and they provide the order processing to include accepting credit card payments. I am surprised they do not also help you out with marketing by at least providing a directory. As of now, you have to put the phone number on your web site or on your business card.
I could see having a directory of “real” experts that you could call would be of value. Like you could call an appliance expert to get independent advice on determining if you should fix a washing machine yourself, have a repairman do it, or get a new washing machine. I guess this would work if you had an user rating scheme that rated the various experts.
