Boy Scouts to Get Merit Badge for Not Downloading Music/Movies

There is something not right about this new Boy Scout program where a scout gets a badge for not downloading illegal movies.

Digg.com posts, “Boy Scouts in the Los Angeles area will now be able to earn a merit patch for learning about the evils of downloading pirated movies and music. The patch shows a film reel, a music CD and the international copyright symbol, a “C” enclosed in a circle. The movie industry has developed the curriculum.”

I agree we should not download illegal movies or songs from the internet, but it seems like we should not be rewarded for doing something we are suppose to do. I believe the Boy Scouts are calling this an Activity Badge and not a Merit Badge, so maybe what they are doing is a good thing.
