The employee discount pricing programs offered by most automakers have been an eye opener for both manufacturers and customers. Car sellers are finding that customers like no-haggle discount car pricing. Many domestic automakers are taking a cue from their employee discount pricing programs and permanently lowering their baseline car prices and cutting down on rebates and other incentives.
GM and Ford have decided to lower their prices largely to remain competitive online. Car shopping sites such as Cars.com and Edmunds do not favor automakers that inflate their base price. Automakers are finding that their cars drop off internet shopping lists when they inflate their base prices. Analysts think that no-haggle discount car pricing may be the wave of the future.
