School Trades In Textbooks For Laptops
It is surprising that this has not happened before, but a public school in Vail, Arizona is having their students trade in their textbooks for laptops. See posting from WebProNews: Arizona School Ditches Textbooks For Notebooks for more details. Colleges need to think about doing this as well. With college textbooks costing over $100 a piece, it would seem that it would be cheaper to do away with traditional textbooks and start using electronic media.
With all the interactive authorware available now a days, it seems teachers could make their classes more interactive and exciting using digital media versus using traditional textbooks. Students would also do a lot better outside the classroom by using interactive media for schoolwork outside the classroom. It is really unbelievable how much video games have advanced from Ping-Pong, but my college freshman daughter is still lugging around a bunch of $100 textbooks.
