If you think about it is sort of strange that we play by different rules on the internet in regard to revealing our identity. By us not revealing our name on the internet, we are contributing to internet crime such as identity theft, money scams, sexual predators, and hacking. It becomes difficult for law enforcement to protect us from criminals when they are blending in with all of us anonymous web surfers.
Not sure what the right answer is, but more and more people are becoming more open to making it a requirement for people to reveal their true identity when surfing online. A recent survey in Korea showed that over 70% of the respondents thought it would be a good idea to use a “real name system” to deter internet crime. See AsiaMedia posting AsiaMedia :: KOREA: 75% of Internet users back using real names for more details.
