More People Finding Their Car Online Rather Than In the Classifieds

If you are still looking for your next car in the newspaper classifieds section, stop! If you are selling your car through a newspaper ad, stop! The internet is the place to sell or buy your next car and its free. Poyneronline posting, Would You Buy An Used Car From This Blogger?, tells it like it is with this quote about how easy he found buyers for his car posting an internet ad:

“Oh, yeah, it worked. Within 10 minutes of placing the ad on Friday afternoon I got my first call and a potential buyer was over for a test drive within an hour and a half. She didn’t buy it, but within the first two hours I had two more calls and a low-ball e-mail offer. Over the weekend, a few more calls came in and a couple more people test-drove the car. I’ve had offers, but not close enough to my price for me to accept.”

Techdirt posts: Shocker: More People Prefer Online Car Sales To Dealing With Dealers. Can you possibly imagine that people wouldn’t like going in to car dealers and buying cars from a profession that seems to be defined by its own sleaze? Indeed, it appears that the less sleaze-inducing internet route for buying cars is picking up steam — with plenty of car purchases originating online. Also, person-to-person car sales have been increasing as the internet has aided that process, and cut out the need for dealers to broker those types of sales. Meanwhile, fewer people seem to be going to the old newspaper classified section to find out about car deals, as it just doesn’t seem efficient any more. The car sellers are looking elsewhere and car buyers prefer going online and avoiding dealers as much as possible as well.
