DSL No Longer Regulated

FCC has just ruled that DSL is an information service. As an information service, DSL will not be regulated any more as a telecommunications services. This will help DSL to be competitive with cable internet as it will not have to carry the additional taxes that telecommunications services have to pass on to consumers. The FCC previously identified cable internet services as an information service. DSL now labeled as an information service may be bad news for third-party internet providers such as Earthlink because they will have to negotiate wholesale rates with DSL providers.
