Broadband Wi-Fi In Disaster Area
Some smart techies had a great idea to help disaster victims during Hurricane Katrina. They set up a broadband Wi-Fi connection to help people to communicate in the disaster area. Once they installed the Wi-Fi equipment on a local tower, Hurricane Katrina victims could connect to the internet within 50 miles of the tower. Wow!
There is now renewed talks about city Governments funding more initiatives to bring broadband Wi-Fi to their local community. As a minimum broadband Wi-Fi would help first responders and police to communicate during a hurricane or terrorist act. There is definitely a good business case in light of recent disasters to make broadband Wi-Fi more available through out the country.
